Browser extension troubleshooting

When something breaks, first decide whether the problem is in the browser, the extension connection, or the Beav save itself. Do not keep clicking the same task over and over.

The side panel shows disconnected

1. Confirm the Beav desktop app is running.
2. Reopen the Beav workspace.
3. Confirm Beav is enabled on the extensions page.
4. Click Reload on the extension card.
5. Refresh the web page, then open the side panel again.

A local firewall or security tool that blocks 127.0.0.1 can stop the extension from reaching the desktop app. Allow only the local connections Beav needs, and never expose a local service to the public internet.

No Beav buttons on the page

• Confirm the page has finished loading.
• Refresh the page so the extension content script is injected again.
• Some pages only offer actions in the side panel and never show in-page buttons.
• On Xiaohongshu creator profile pages, prefer the side panel or the profile area action.
• Browser internal pages, extension stores, and protected pages do not allow ordinary extension injection.

The extension says saved, but the knowledge base is empty

1. Confirm the current workspace in Beav is the right one.
2. Clear the knowledge base filters and search the title again.
3. Check the side panel task history for a partial success or a failure reason.
4. For long articles, wait until the body text has loaded and try again.
5. Retry only once, so you do not create duplicate records.

A Xiaohongshu batch capture stops

Site verification, page refreshes, network instability, or access limits can interrupt a task. Stop the current task, complete the page verification, confirm the list scrolls normally again, and then continue. Do not start large batch tasks from several pages at the same time.

Browser control will not start

Confirm the target page is a real Chrome window with the Beav extension installed, and keep the desktop app running. Browser control started by an external Agent also needs your approval; if the task is waiting for approval, handle that in Beav first.

Old features still show after an update

Confirm the new files really overwrote your permanent folder, then click Reload on the extensions page. After that, refresh the target pages and reopen the side panel. Full steps: Update the browser extension.

Reinstall

Reinstall only when the folder is damaged or the extension keeps reporting errors:

1. Stop the running tasks.
2. Remove Beav from the extensions page.
3. Reinstall from the Chrome Web Store first.
4. If the store is unavailable, download the latest ZIP, extract it to a permanent folder, and select the folder containing manifest.json again.
5. Finish with one web page save and confirm it in the knowledge base.
